This quartz is from the Diamond Hill Mine in Antreville, Abbeville County, South Carolina, USA. This mine consists of a saprolite country rock that contains veins and vugs of multi-generational quartz crystals. Some early crystallization was milky that was then covered with amethyst, smokey quartz and other minerals. This Is a vein section of quartz crystals that was covered by iron oxides and subsequently covered with additional layers of transparent quartz. The crystals have orange to brown inclusions just below the surface and the edges of the prism faces. The crystals are glazed over with a glassy final deposit of quartz.which gives them a glass luster. It measures approximately 5 3/4 x 2 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches.
