Description
This quartz is from the Diamond Hill Mine in Antreville, Abbeville County, South Carolina, USA. This mine consists of a saprolite country rock that contains veins and vugs of multi-generational quartz crystals. It was originally called the Diamond Hill Quartz mine and it contains several types of quartz crystals with varied morphologies. Some early crystallization was milky quartz that was then covered with amethyst, smokey and other minerals. This Is a crystalline vein section covered with glassy white quartz crystals on the display side while the reverse side contains some crystals and epimorphic structural formations (photo 5). The crystals on the display side form rosette type clusters and have a glass luster. It measures 5 x 4 1/2 x 2 inches or 126 x 114 x 50 mm.
