This quartz crystal “Laser” is from Diamantina in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This locale covers a wide area that contains dozens of mines and claims that produce over 25 different minerals including a variety of outstanding quartz crystals. A laser crystal has an elongated habit that tapers toward a small pointed termination. This specimen is a transparent crystal with horizontal striations and complex growth patterns on the prism faces. It is in pristine condition with crisp edges, glassy prism faces, and a sharp termination. The base has a healed surface. This crystal measures 5 1/8 x 7/8 x 7/8 inches or 13.1 x 2.2 x 2.2 cm.
