Pyromorphite Crystals from the Daoping Mine, Guilan Prefecture

This pyromorphite is from the Daoping Mine in Congcheng Co., Guilan Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. This is a lead-zinc deposit containing 13 different mineral species including pyromorphite. It is a lead phosphate that contains the elements Pb and Zn. This specimen is almost entirely made up of pyromorphite crystals. The rear has some minor pyromorphite, limonite and sandstone. The display side is covered with barrel-like, hoppered, and multi-terminated crystals of pyromorphite. They have a bright green color and vitreous luster. The piece measures 2 1/8 x 1 7/16 x 5/8 inches or 54 x 37 x 16 mm.
