Description

This pyromorphite is from the Daoping Mine in Congcheng Co., Guilan Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. This is a lead-zinc deposit containing 13 different mineral species including pyromorphite. It is a lead phosphate that contains the elements Pb, P, O, and Cl. The display side of this piece contains dozens of hexagonal tabular to barrel shaped crystals on a quartz matrix with minor limonite. They have a yellow green color and a glass luster. The rear (Photo 5) contains a folded matrix whose core contains additional crystals. This piece measures  3 x 1 15/16 x 1 3/16 inches or 76 x 49 x 33 mm.
