Animal fossils from the Jurassic Period wash out of the cliffs and can be found mixed in the gravels of the beach. Several species of minerals contributed to the fossilization of the animals including pyrite.This is a pyrite or pyritized fossil (“Death Bed”) with a partially exposed ammonite (species Eoderoceras armatum) that dates to about 196 million years in age. It measures 3 x 2 5/8 x 3/4 inches or 75 x 67 x 19 mm.
