This tourmaline is from Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is a cross-sectional slice of an elbaite, varieties rubellite and rubellite, tourmaline that has been polished front and rear to a gem luster. The perimeter is natural. The center of the slice is a pink to red rubellite and the rind or exterior is zoned with green verdelite and rubellite This piece measures 13.5 x 12 x 2 mm and it weighs 4.8 carats.
