This peridot is from the famous Saint johns Island or Zabargad Island  in Foul bay of the Red Sea of Egypt. This locale is an uninhabited island that has a history of being mined for the gemstone for over 2000 years. The ancient Greeks called the island Topazios. Peridot is the name given to the green gem variety of the mineral fosterite and it contains the elements Mg, Si and O. This crystal measures 8 x 8 x 5 mm and it weighs 2.68 carats.
