These muscovite crystals are from Hiddenite, Alexander County, North Carolina, USA. Muscovite crystals are found in association with pegmatites in the area. Muscovite is the most common variety of mica. It is a silicate and it contains the elements K, Al, Si, O and H. This piece consists of a porous feldspar matrix that is topped with dozens of well defined crystals. They have a silver-bronze color and a micaceous luster. This piece measures 5 1/2 x 3 x 2 1/2 inches.
