This plate of muscovite crystals is from the Adams Farm Mine, In Hiddenite, Alexander County, North Carolina, USA. This mine is famous for the rutile, hiddenite and emeralds found in the pegmatites in this area. These different minerals are found in association with quartz and muscovite. Muscovite is the most common variety of mica. It is a silicate and it contains the elements K, Al, Si, O and H. This plate consists of a quartz matrix that is topped with dozens of crystals. They have a silver-bronze color and a micaceous luster. This piece measures 6 1/2 x 4 x 3 inches or 165 x 102 x 76 mm.
