This morganite crystal is from the Skardu District in Baltistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Skardu is an immense district that contains hundreds of known pegmatites and dozens of active mines that are producing a variety of gemstones including the pink variety of beryl called morganite. It contains the elements Be, Al, Si and O. This crystal is well defined with a hexagonal morphology. It Is complete and intact on all sides and it has a healed base (photo 6). There is a small secondary crystal on the top. This piece measures 1 13/16 x 1 x 15/16 inches or 46 x 25 x 24 mm.
