This beryl crystal is from the Chiar Mine in Sao Jose da Safira, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is the pink variety of beryl that was named after J.P. Morgan. Pure beryl is colorless but it can be found in a variety of colors which are caused by traces of other elements in the crystal lattice. This is a tabular crystal that is mostly transparent with a glass luster. It measures 1 x 13/16 x 1/4 inches or 26 x 20 x 6 mm.
