Description
This mordenite epimorph of anhydrite on amethyst is from Irai, Alto Uruguai Region, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Seven mineral species are found in this region. It is famous for the flower like formations of amethyst quartz crystals that are found there.They are commonly referred to as “rose amethyst” or “amethyst flowers”. This specimen consists of a plate of flower like amethyst crystals containing green inclusions of celadonite. It hosts a bladed cluster of mordenite crystals. They are epimorphs of bladed anhydrite crystals. This piece measures 4 1/2 x 3 1/8 x 1 1/4 inches or 114 x 79 x 32 mm.
