This molybdenite is from the Moly Hill Mine in La Motte, Abitibi RCM, Abitibi-Temiscaminque, Quebec, Canada. This is a pegmatite mine that contains fourteen different minerals including molybdenite. It is a sulfide containg the elements Mo and S. It consists of a mixed matrix of feldspar and mica that hosts several lamellae and well defined molybdenite crystals on the display surface of the piece. It measures 1 1/2 x 1 3/8 x 1/2 inches or 38 x 35 x 12 mm.
