Description
These mimetite crystals are from the Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region of Namibia. This is an ore pipe deposit that is mined for copper lead and other metals. It is over 3000 feet deep and contains two oxidation zones. Over 300 mineral species have been identified at the mine including world class mimetites. It is a lead arsenate that contains the elements Pb, As, O and Cl. This piece consists of a calcite crystal matrix that is topped with layers of druse mimetite and double terminated crystals up to 14 mm long. This piece measures 1 7/8 x 1 1/2 x 1 1/8 inches or 47 x 38 x 28 mm.
