Description

This millerite geode is from the US highway 27 roadcut at Halls Gap, Lincoln County, USA. This locale is well known for the quartz geodes containing millerite crystals found there. Millerite is a nickel sulfide containing the elements Ni and S. This specimen is a geode half with an exposed core that is partially filled with brassy millerite crystals and quartz crystals. This piece measures 1 5/8 x 1 1/8 x 11/16 inches or 41 x 28 x 18 mm.
