Meteorite – 124 Gram Sikhote-Alin – Iron Octahedrite

This meteorite is from the Sikhote-Alin Mountains in Primorsky Krai, Far Eastern Fedral District ( Siberia ), Russia. It fell and exploded in the atmosphere on February 12th 1947. It was estimated that the post atmospheric mass was approximately 23000 kilograms. It created 122 craters in a 1.2 x 6 mile area and 59524 pounds of this material have been collected. It is an Iron Octahedrite Class, IIAB Group, Iron Octahedrite. This piece measures  50 x 45 x 29 mm and it weighs 124 grams.
