Description

This manganoan calcite is from Dal’negorsk, Kavalerovo mining district, Primorkiy Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia. These This region contains nine known deposits in which 190 minerals can be found including calcite. It is a carbonate containing the elements Ca, C and O. The manganoan variety contains manganese, Mn, in the crystal lattice. This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that is covered on all sides with a variety of mineral crystals. The display side has an aesthetic display of pink, tabular, manganoan calcites with secondary deposits of quartz crystals, druse quartz, calcite crystals (dogtooth, discoid), galena crystals and sphalerite crystals. It is a very aesthetic and balanced piece. It measures 3 1/2 x 2 3/8 x 1 5/8 inches or 89 x 60 x 41 mm.
