Description

This manganoan adamite is from the Ojuela Mine In Mapimi, Durango, Mexico. This mine contains 137 different minerals including four varieties of adamite. Adamite is an arsenate that contains the elements Zn, As, O and H with traces of Mn in the manganoan variety. This specimen consists of large, for the species, crystals. They have chisel-like terminations and a vitreous luster. The crystals grow off of a dark oxide matrix and form a pineapple-like cluster. This piece measures 22 x 20 x 15 mm.
