Malachite – Fibrous Crystal Spray from Kerrochene

This malachite is from Kerrochene in the Khenifra Province, Beni Millal-Khenifra Region, Morocco. An exact description and history are unknown and it is unremarkable except for the malachite and azurite specimens found there. Malachite is a carbonate and it contains the elements Cu, C, O and H. This piece consists of multiple spray-like formations of elongated fibrous malachite crystals.  They have a chatoyant emerald color and a silken luster. It is a large thumbnail or small miniature that measures 1 1/8 x 1 x 9/16 inches or 28 x 25 x 14 mm.
