Description

This malachite is from Kerrochene in the Khenifra Province, Beni Millal-Khenifra Region, Morocco. An exact description and history are unknown and it is unremarkable except for the malachite and azurite specimens found there. Malachite is a carbonate and it contains the elements Cu, C, O and H. This piece consists of multiple spray-like or fan formations of elongated fibrous malachite crystals.  They have a chatoyant emerald color and a silken luster which is hard to photograph. It measures 1 3/4 x 1 x 1/2 inches or 45 x 25 x 12 mm.
