This outstanding malachite after azurite specimen is from Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mountains, Cochise County, Arizona, USA. Bisbee contains dozens of former and current copper/gold/silver mines that contained 286 different minerals including the copper carbonates malachite and azurite. This piece is a plate like formation of radiating clusters of azurite crystals that have been replaced or pseudomorphed by malachite. The rear of the piece is shown in photo 5. The crystals along the perimeter are intact and complete. It measures approximately 4 1/4 x 2 1/2 x 1 inches or 107 x 64 x 25 mm.
