This magnesite is from the Pomba Pit in Serra das Eguas, Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. This mine is a commercial producer of talc and magnesite. A ban on mineral collection by anyone, including the miners, is strictly enforced. The open pit mine contains thirty different minerals including magnesite. This specimen consists of a mix of magnesite crystals and a transparent glass-like quartz crystal. The magnesite varies from a large rhombic crystals to druse. There are small red uvite tourmaline crystals scattered on the piece also. This piece measures 1 3/16 x 1 x 5/8 inches or 30 x 25 x 16 mm.
