Description
This magnesite and uvite crystal mix is from the Pomba Pit in Serra das Egus, Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. This mine is a commercial producer of magnesite and talc however uvite and other accessory minerals, including emeralds are found there. The mine owners enforce a ban on mineral collecting that includes the miners that work there. This piece consists of a brownish uvite tourmaline crystal that hosts several rhombic magnesite crystals. The magnesites have a reddish tinge caused by light inclusions of hematite. This piece measures approximately 24 x 21 x 13 mm.
