This magnesite is from the Pomba Pit in Serra das Eguas, Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. This mine is a commercial producer of talc and magnesite. A ban on mineral collection by anyone, including the miners, is strictly enforced. The open pit mine contains thirty different minerals including magnesite. This specimen consists of translucent to transparent glass-like magnesite crystals. There is minor hematite scattered about the crystals. This piece measures 1 3/8 x 1 1/8 x 1 inches or 35 x 28 x 25 mm.
