Description
This lazulite is from the Graves Mountain Mine in Lincoln County, Georgia. This was a kyanite mine that also contained over two dozen different minerals. It is most famous for the world class rutile specimens and the large lazulite crystals found there. Lazulite is a phosphate that contains the elements Mg, Fe, Al, P, O and H. This is an extremely large (for the species) crystal of lazulite. It has terminated on all sides with some oxide stained mica attached matrix attached. It measures 1 1/2 x 1 x 11/16 inches or 38 x 25 x 20 mm.
