Description
This kyanite crystal cluster is from Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is predominantly found in aluminum rich pegmatites and quartz veins and is a silicate of aluminum. The crystals are typically blue in color but can be black, orange or other colors. It contains the elements Al, Si, and O. This specimen consists of interpenetrating and parallel crystals mixed with a crystalline quartz matrix. The kyanite crystals are double terminated, medium blue, and have a greasy to micaceous luster. They are elongated, thick and blade like.This piece displays well vertically, horizontally, front and rear. It measures 8 1/4 x 4 5/16 x 1 7/8 inches or 210 x 110 x 48 mm.
