Description
This kyanite crystal cluster is from Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is predominantly found in aluminum rich pegmatites and quartz veins and is a silicate of aluminum. The crystals are typically blue in color but can be black, orange or other colors. It contains the elements Al, Si, and O. This specimen consists of interpenetrating mostly parallel crystals mixed with a crystalline quartz, mica matrix. The kyanite crystals are double terminated, medium blue, and have a vitreous to micaceous luster. They are elongated, thick and blade like.This piece displays well vertically and horizontally. It measures 7 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches or 190 x 88 x 70 mm.
