Description

This kunzite crystal is from the Laghman Province (Nuristan) Afghanistan. Kunzite is the name commonly used to describe the pink to violet gem variety of spodumene. This crystal is a floater that is free from all matrix and terminated on all sides. It has lightly etched and complex growth on all surfaces with remnant attachment points visible as shown in photo 6. It is light pastel pink to lavender in color. The three axis show different hues and depth of pink. It is translucent to transparent with internal veiling. It has a glass luster. This crystal measures 4 3/8 x 3 1/4 x 1 3/4 inches or 114 x 82 x 45 mm. It weighs 420 grams
