Description
This aquamarine beryl is from Conselheiro Pena in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This area contains dozens of mine that produce over 100 different minerals for the jewelry trade and collector market. Aquamarine is the blue gem variety of beryl and it contains the elements Be, Al, Si and O. Different colors of beryl such as aquamarine are produced when there are trace elements in the crystal lattice. This specimen was altered and recrystallized in hydrothermal fluids. It has terminated surfaces on all faces (floater). . This crystal measures 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches or 38 x 32 x 32 mm.
