Description
This hubnerite is from the Pasto Bueno Mining District, Pampas District, of the Pallasca Province, Ancash Department of Peru. This area contains nine separate mines and the exact locale that particular specimens come from is often obscure. This district contains 28 different species of minerals one of which is hubnerite. It is in the Wolframite Group and it is an oxide containing the elements Mn, W, and O. This specimen consists of a cluster of parallel hubnerite crystals with perpendicular clusters of needle quartz crystals.They have reddish hue and a sub-metallic luster. This piece measures 2 1/2 x 2 x 1 3/4 x 64 x 50 x 45 mm as displayed in photo.
