This hemimorphite is from the Ojuela Mine in Mapimi, Mun.de Mapimi, Durango, Mexico. This locale contains 137 different mineral species including hemimorphite. It is a silicate that contains the elements Zn,Si, O and H. This specimen consists of a mixed limonite and crystaline hemimorphite matrix that hosts an exposed pocket filled with large hemimorphite crystals. They are white to colorless and they are translucent to transparent. They have a vitreous to glass luster and the longest crystals are over 1 inch. This piece measures 3 1/4 x 2 1/8 x 1 15/16 inches or 83 x 54 x 24 mm.
