This hematite is from the Graves Mountain Mine in Lincoln County, Georgia, USA. This mine was an open pit operation that was mined primarily for kyanite, It contained several other associated minerals including hematite which is an oxide that contains the elements Fe and O. This piece consists of stacked botryoidal and stalactite deposits of hematite on the display side. It has a subtile iridescence in mostly green and blue of hues. This piece measures 2 1/2 x 1 5/8 x 15/16 inches or 64 x 41 x 24 mm.
