This heliodor beryl crystal is from Sao Jose da Safira in the Doce Valley of Minas Gerais Brazil. This area is in the Aimores Pegmatite District. It is famed for its outstanding mineral crystals specimens including many semi precious gemstones in the beryl family. Heliodor contains the elements Be, Al, Si and O. This is a floater crystal that is intact and terminated on all surfaces. There is no visible point of attachment or matrix on the crystal. All surfaces are recrystallized or lightly etched. They have a bright glass luster. It is transparent and has a bright glass luster. It measures approximately 13/16 x 9/16 x 1/2 inches or 18 x 14 x 12 mm.
