Description

This hedenbergite is from the Sinerechenskoe skarn occurance in the Kavalerov Mining District in Primorskiy Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia. This is a large district that contains dozens of mines and hundreds of different minerals including hedenbergite, quartz and andradite. All three minerals are silicates. This specimen consists of a matrix of hednbergite crystals and druse andradites that is topped with dark green quartz crystal. This outstanding quartz has complex, scepter-like growth, and a dark green color created by heavy inclusions of hedenbergite. This piece measures 2 x 1 1/2 x 3/4 inches or 50 x 38 x 19 mm.
