This goshenite beryl is from the Shigar Valley, Skardu District, Baltistan, Gilgit-Baltistan (Northern Areas), Pakistan. This region contains many pegmatites that produce a wide range of mineral species and gemstones which are collected and sold to collectors. There are 47 different minerals in the area including goshenite. It is the colorless, or near colorless, variety of beryl and it contains the elements Be, Al, Si, And O. This specimen was altered or recrystallized in hyro-thermal fluids after it’s original formation. It is lightly etched, terminated on all surfaces, and free of matrix ( a floater ). It is water clear, facet grade, crystal with a bright glass luster. It measures 1 7/16 x 1 1/8 x 1 1/16 inches or 3.7 x 2.7 x 2.6 cm.
