Description
This goshenite crystal is from the Shigar Valley, Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The Shigar Valley contains a pegmatite complex which produces specimens of beryl, topaz and other pegmatite minerals.The pegmatites host 50 different minerals including the goshenite or colorless variety of beryl. This specimen is a floater that has been altered in the hydrothermal fluids in which it had formed. It has a crude hexagonal shape with highly altered terminated surfaces on all sides of the crystal. The crystal measures approximately 31 x 36 x 25 mm.
