Description

This galena and sphalerite is from the Pachipaqui District of the Bolognesi Province in the Ancash Department of Peru. This district encompasses a large area containing several mines. There are 30 different minerals found in the district including the sulfides galena and sphalerite. This specimen consists of a calcite matrix that is covered with a mix of different mineral crystals including ,cuboctohedral, galena, tetragonal, sphalerite, quartz and calcite crystals. There are also some galena spinel twins on the piece. This piece measures 2 5/16 x 1 9/16 x 1 5/16 inches or 59 x 40 x 33 mm.
