Description
These galena crystals are from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Tennessee, USA. This mine contains three shafts called the Elmwood, Cumberland, and Gordonsville. It has an entry slope called the Stonewall. They contain eleven different minerals including galena which is a minor ore mineral. This specimen consists of a pair of interpenetrating galena crystals. They have complex skeletal growth and some surfaces have a light iridescence. This piece measures 2 x 1 1/8 x 1 1/8 inches or 50 x 28 x 28 mm.
