These galena crystals are from the Sweetwater Mine, Ellington, Viburnum Trend District, Reynolds County, Missouri, USA. The trend covers an area of approximately 240 square miles. It consists of eight ore bodies that contain 23 different mineral species including galena. It is a sulfide containing the elements Pb, and S. This is an excellent specimen consisting of a galena crystal with a cubic morphology and a steely-gray color. It sits on a matrix of smaller cubic galena, dolomite and micro chalcopyrite crystals. The primary crystal has a naturally beveled corner and minor twinning on two prism faces. This piece comes in a 1 1/4 inch perky box and it measures approximately 1 1/8 x 1 x 7/8 inches or 28 x 25 x 22 mm.
