Description
These complex galena crystals are from Dal’negorsk in the Kavalerovo Mining District, Primorskiy Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia. This region contains nine known deposits which hold 190 different minerals Including the lead sulfide galena. These crystals have complex cuboctahedral hoppered habits. The reverse side has “melted” or recrystallized crystal surfaces. The rear or bottom has secondary deposits of siderite.They have a steel-grey color and a sub-metallic luster. the This piece measures 2 1/8 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/8 inches or 53 x 41 x 28 mm.
