Description
These fluorites are from the Huanzala Mine in the Huallanca District , Dos de Mayo Province, Huanucu Department of Peru. Sixty-three different mineral species are found in this area. This locale is famous for it’s outstanding pyrite specimens as well as a variety of gangue minerals like these fluorites. It is a halide that contains the elements Ca and Fl. It can be found in a spectrum of colors which are created by trace impurities in the crystal lattice. These crystals have cubic habits and some are zoned with pink.They are transparent and have a vitreous to glass luster. There are small calcites scattered about the piece also. This piece measures 2 x 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 inches or 50 x 45 x 32 mm.
