These fluorite on sphalerites is from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Tennessee, US. This mine contains three shafts called the Elmwood, Cumberland, and Gordonsville. It has an entry slope called the Stonewall. They contain eleven different minerals including sphalerite which is the main ore mineral. The fluorite is a common gangue mineral associated with the sphalerite. This specimen consists of a plate of complex sphalerite crystals that have a ruby jack hue and a bright glass luster. They are topped with transparent, cubic fluorite crystals. This piece measures 2 5/16 x 2 x 1 1/16 inches or 58 x 50 x 27 mm.
