This fluorite is from the Cabolongo Mine in the Valle de Punillo, Ounillo Department,Argentina.Fluorite a common mineral found in hydrothermal deposits. It is in the halide group of minerals and contains the elements Ca, and F. Trace impurities in the crystal lattice can give fluorite it’s wide range of colors. In this piece dramatic changes in color can be seen as the chemical changes in the mineral solutions took place during formation. This piece has been cut, into a freeform shape, and polished to a gem luster to accent it’s multiple, “rainbow” of colors. It measures 3 3/4 x 2 5/8 x 3/8 inches or 96 x 66 x 9 mm.
