Description
This fluorite is from the No. 4 Mine in the Huanggang Fe-Sn deposit, Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China. This deposit covers a large area and is worked by seven different mines. It contains over 60 different minerals including fluorite which can be found in a variety of colors and crystal habits. This triangular shaped piece consists of a massive quartz matrix (sawed at base) that is topped with a thin layer of milky quartz crystals that in turn is mostly covered with unique indigo blue fluorite crystals. The fluorite crystals consist of modified octahedrons and hoppered bevel edged dodecahedrons. This piece measures 2 11/16 x 1 1/2 (tall) x 2 1/4 inches or 68 x 38 x 57 mm.
