Fluorite – Pink Octahedral Crystals – Huanzala Mine

This fluorite is from the Huanzala Mine, Huallanca, Dos de Mayo Povince, Huanco Department, Peru. This a predominately lead-zinc mine but 63 other mineral species can be found there. This locale is not known for its fluorite specimens other than some rather rare pink crystals found there years ago. This piece consists of pink modified cuboctahedral crystals that have green phantoms on some crystal faces. The fluorites are accompanied by complex calcites. This piece measures 1 9/16 x 15/16 x 1 1/2 inches or 39 x 24 x 38 mm.
