Fluorite from the Elmwood Mine, Tennessee

This fluorite is from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Tennessee, US. This mine contains three shafts called the Elmwood, Cumberland, and Gordonsville. It has an entry slope called the Stonewall. They contain eleven different minerals including fluorite. It is a common gangue mineral associated with the sphalerite which is the primary ore at the mine. This specimen consists of a complex cubic crystal that is translucent with a purple phantom. This piece measures 2 x 1 13/16 x 1 1/4 inches or 50 x 46 x 32 mm.
