Description
This fluorite is from Bingham in the Hasonburg District, Socorro County, New Mexico, USA. Fluorite is a common gangue mineral found in hydrothermal deposits. It is in the halide group of minerals and contains the elements Ca, and F. Trace impurities give fluorite it’s wide range of colors.This specimen has been marketed and sold as “Bingham Blue” because of its’ unique, natural, blue color. It has irregular but natural surfaces and a resinous to a vitreous luster as shown in photo three. It is a small cabinet measuring 2 1/2 x 2 x 1 1/4 inches or 63 x 50 x 32 mm
