Description

This fluorite is from the Xianghuapu Mine in Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu County, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province China. This is a beryllium mine that contains 24 different minerals including fluorite. It is a halide that contains the elements Ca and F. This specimen consists of a cluster of green and transparent fluorite crystals. The crystals have a cubcoctohedral morphology with complex surfaces on some of the prism faces. The crystals have minor matrix at the base and rear. The crystals have have an exceptional glass luster and transparency. They display nicely from several angles including vertically and horizontally. This piece measures 3 1/2 x 2 x 2 inches or 89 x 50 x 50 mm.
