Description
This fluorapophyllite with stilbite is from the Jalgoan District in the Maharastra State of India. Many stunning mineral species are recovered in the basalt and other igneous deposits in the area. Mineral crystals can be found in vesicles and vugs within the deposits. There are 17 reported minerals in the area including fluorapophyllite and stilbite. Fluorpophyllite is in the phyllosilicate mineral class and it contains the elements K, Na, Ca, Si, O, F, and H. Stilbite is a silicate and it contains the elements Ca, Al, Si and O. This piece consists of a basalt matrix that is topped with rich green fluorapophyllite crystals with minor associated stilbite crystals. This piece measures 2 1/4 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/2 inches or 57 x 41 x 38 mm.
